The chassis which is black appears weak and hollow, when compared to monitors from Samsung and Dell. The panel has a depth of 1.1” and the display’s behind portion features connection options, ventilation system and a backlight, which extends to another 1.4”, making the total depth of the monitor as 2.5”. The finishing of the screen is a pinch of frosty matte with anti-glare coating. The monitor’s back portion is a black, soft, matte plastic, featuring a logo of ‘ViewSonic’ printed on the top.

The footstand which is circular has a measurement of 9” diameter-wise. If the height of the screen is at its max, the display quivers when the sides are knocked and might easily fall off if you hit very hard. But, at its least height, it does not wobble and is quite comfortable. The panel rotates 3600 and tilts to its normal position of 200. The panel may be separated from the stand by removing the screws and mounted onto the wall (VESA style). The panel can pivot 900 to its left in ‘Portrait’ mode.
The options for video connection are restricted to DVI and VGA. But, the monitor provides an upstream and downstream USB ports. Connections are towards the panel’s bottom right side at the back and faces downward. You can access the video connections easily, but pivoting the needle first will help you to plug to the USB ports. The array of display buttons onscreen is present at the centre of the bezel’s bottom and comprises of 4 light gray buttons, excluding the power button.

The alignment of buttons is horizontal and suitable spacing is available for comfy navigation. If you press the ‘1’ button, the OSD appears and the Up/Down arrows will allow you to navigate the menu. The ‘2’ button acts as the source select and the Enter button. The OSD options incorporate the standard contrast, brightness and various color options. In place of the preset options, the monitor offers 4 color selections of temperature- 5,000K, 6,500K, 7,500K and 9,300K.

Along with it, a user color option and a ‘sRGB’ option allows you to modify the green, blue and red colors distinctly. The remaining OSD options are a ‘Dynamic Contrast’ option and memory recall, which will reset the monitor to its original factory settings. The monitor also has an eco-mode with 3 options- Conserve, Standard and Optimize. By choosing every mode, you can adjust the level of brightness, which will reduce the energy consumption of the monitor.

You have a precise option of the OSD which will set the OSD to stay onscreen for a minute. The monitor has an aspect ratio of 16:9 and can support a ‘Full HD’ resolution of 1,920×1,080 pixels. The monitor has a wonderful display with bright, rich, uniform colors. The colors are not vibrant because the monitor’s display has low brightness. As a result, the colors present in games and movies are affected. Input lag and Ghosting are absent, but the colors are dull.

The accurate viewing angle of the monitor is at the front directly, a quarter of the distance to the screen starting from top. The gamma correction and colors appear accurate in this angle. Almost all monitors are designed to view the monitor in this angle. Based on the type of panel, the quality of picture at non-optimal angle differs. Since this monitor is designed with an E-IPS panel, it shows small shifts in colors, of say 450, when the angle varies without the screen being darkened.
